Today we are featuring a beautiful children's picture book we recently added to our library collection, called It Starts with a Seed, with words by Laura Knowles and pictures by Jennie Webber. Using stunning watercolour-style illustrations and rhyming text, this book tells the story of how a tiny seed blowing in the wind grows into a mighty tree. It highlights to children that this tree is not just magnificent in its own right, but also serves as a home and habitat for all kinds of birds and other creatures throughout the year. The final page folds out - an interactive feature children love - and shows how this big tree sheds new seeds, thus beginning the process all over again. Press play below to view a short animation to introduce you to this lovely story. Click the "full screen" icon at the bottom right (looks like a broken square) to see it better! This book is available now to read and borrow in the Children's Section of Rifthold Library.
